Violet Mecham Jaques, age 86, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 12, 2022 .
Violet was born to Albert and Sarah Mecham on September 22, 1935 in Wallsburg, Utah. Her younger years were spent on the farm at Rose Hill in Wallsburg with her siblings riding horses, camping, hunting and fishing. Even as the dementia advanced, the memories of the mountains of Wallsburg held a piece of her heart.
Her and her sweetheart, Vernon William Jaques, were married in Idaho Falls, ID on March 21, 1951. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for all time and eternity.
They lived in Layton, Utah with their young family until their home burned down. They then moved to Wallsburg for the next several years. Work took them to Etna, California and eventually back to Wallsburg where they built their family home. After their children were raised Violet and Vernon moved south to LaVerkin where they lived out the rest of their lives in their forever home.
Violet joined Vernon and her family on many vacations, rockhounding, hunting and fishing trips. Many stories have been told of hunting adventures with her. It has been said she would take the shot before anyone else had an opportunity. She shared memories of these outings with anyone that would listen.
Over the years painting, pottery, embroidery, crossword puzzles, reading and the newspaper were activities she enjoyed. Her family, the flower gardens Vernon kept for her, especially the rose garden, bright colors, the Utah Jazz, John Stockton, sharing the homegrown fruits and vegetables she had canned and preserved all brought her great joy.
She always had a very strong faith and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many positions and callings throughout her life. Many relationships were created within the church community.
Violet was greeted on the other side by her sweetheart Vernon, her parents, son Ryan Vernon, daughter Laura Jane, daughter-law Robin, granddaughter Sarah Jane, her siblings, Elmo (Sarah). Charlie (Rose), Guy (Helen), Velma Ford (Reed), Gale (Verna), Don, and Bud (Jackie).
She is survived by her children, Steven William (Debbie) of Wallsburg, Peggy Ellen Williams (Don) of Kannaraville, Layne Albert (Alicelyn) of LaVerkin, Michael (Cheyenne) of LaVerkin, Rebecca “Bec” Jane of Salt Lake City and many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Granchildren.
