Warren Leland Starr passed away on February 22, 2011, with his family by his side in St. George, UT.

Born on January 18, 1939 to James Wesley Alonzo Starr and Mabel Irene Walter in Tucson, AZ. Warren graduated from Catalina High School in Tucson in May 1957. He joined the U.S. Navy in July 1957 and was honorably discharged in July 1963.

From 1961 to 1963, he worked at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Missile Range as a Radio Operator, marrying his wife, June K. Wallace, in Kaneohe, Hawaii on May 11, 1963.

In 1966, he and his family moved to California, eventually settling in Granada Hills in 1970, where he worked for NASA at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, until his retirement in 2001. In August 2005, Warren and June moved to St. George.

Warren is survived by his wife, June and their children, Eldon (Lauri) Karratti of St. George, UT; Edson (Cari) Karratti of Santa Clarita, CA; Kimo (Marty) of Simi Valley, CA; and Allison (Douglas) Hansen of Spanish Fork, UT; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-children. He is also survived by his three brothers, Donald Starr of Oceanside, CA; Gordon (Dora) Starr of Tucson, AZ; and Wesley (Darlene) Starr of Palmdale, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and by sister-in-law, Dixie Starr.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Clark and his staff at Intermountain Health Care, and is especially grateful to Zion's Way Hospice Team for their skilled individualized treatment and support.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the St. James LDS Chapel, 1095 East St. James Lane, St. George. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to services. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George.
