William Dell DeHart

Ivins, Utah

William Dell DeHart died on March 18, 2025 at Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, UT. He was born May 21, 1928 in Keosauqua, Iowa to Hector E. DeHart and Mabel Saunderson. He attended school in the Keosauqua Public School system for 12 years. After graduation from high school he attended the State University of Iowa earning B.S. and M.A. degrees. After college, he entered the military service, serving as both an enlisted man and an officer, and was released to inactive duty as a LTJG in the Navy. In civilian life he taught school in northern California for a number of years. During the last four years of teaching he attended law school at night, and earned a J.D. degree. After becoming a member of the California Bar he worked in San Francisco for the California Department of Social Services, serving as an Administrative Law Judge. During this time he met and married Cheryl Greathouse. After retirement they moved to the St. George, Utah area, where they lived until his death.He had a number of interests including participating in and watching sports, listening to music, and solving various types of puzzles. By the time he was five years old both his mother and father had died, and he was raised by two aunts, Bertha Saunderson and Edith Saunderson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel and his sister-in-law, Elois DeHart. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl and niece, Ann DeHart Milne.

Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, UT.
