Carolee Coleman, 78, died of kidney failure, surrounded by love, at her home in Hurricane, Utah on June 15, 2022.
Carolee was born a true Nephite on April 19, 1944 to parents Clarence Heber and Lenna in Nephi, Utah.
As a child, her parents taught her the importance of education and family. She also learned piano from a young age, a skill she continued until her dying day.
She met Robert Jay Coleman at college and, being a lifelong member of the LDS chuch, eventually married him at the Manti Temple in 1968.
In 1972, Travis Jay Coleman was born 9 weeks premature. Carolee made a deal with God that night that if Travis lived, she would do anything she could to be the best mother that she could. Carolee kept that promise until the end.
While Travis was the only official child, many friends and relatives would also be welcomed into their house. Carolee became a pseudo- mother to many!
Carolee was known as Mrs. Coleman to many children as she became a teacher for over 20 years, many of those teaching Kindergarten. However, even after she left the classroom, she became Head of Social Studies for the State of Utah, and taught teachers as a consultant until a month before her death.
Throughout her life, Bob taught her to enjoy travel and she had been to all 50 States and traveled to Western Europe several times, sometimes with Students.
She loved history and couldn't get enough as she devoured all the knowledge she could. This helped greatly in playing many games- Trivial Pursuit was a top game as well as most anything else with cards or boards.
She also loved live theater productions and, really, doing anything with family and friends.
Carolee will be remembered for her laugh, smile, quick wit, and kindness.
Carolee is preceeded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Clarence and Lenna, and her two brothers Garry and Dennis Esplin (Gail).
